X1 technology puts customers with disabilities in control

Pat Cannon with X1 Voice Remote

Technology plays a very important role in the lives of people with disabilities. Launching products that are accessible to all our customers is a top priority for Comcast.

Three years ago, Comcast released the industry’s first voice-enabled television user interface, revolutionizing the way our TV customers navigate our X1 platform. The X1 remote with voice control is a game changer for how our customers access and experience their entertainment and news.

Then in 2015, Comcast launched Voice Guidance. This “talking guide” reads aloud selections from our X1 menu such as program titles, network names, show time slots, and DVR and On Demand settings. This gives our customers who are blind or visually impaired the freedom to independently explore and navigate thousands of shows and movies. Simple voice commands let viewers find their favorite channels or programs quicker.
